Your Questions About Windows Emulator For Linux

Mary asks…

(HELP!!) I have downloaded a PS3 game torrent (303 KB) now I…?

(PLEASE READ THE FIRST TWO PARAGRAPHS) :) Thank you.

1.) I want to put it onto my PS3. Like somehow transfer the files to the PS3. (I have Windows 2007) I did these steps in order: I downloaded the files for the PS3 Game (Batman Arkham Asylum), I put the disc in (CD & DVD), and clicked “Burn”. Then it told me to put in a writable disc. But those are the only two kinds of discs that I own. (Yes the DVD’s and CD’s are blank. The DVD’s are Memorex, and the CD’s are Fujifilm.) Do you I need to install YellowdogLinux (Linux)? Or some sort of emulator or transferring device to put the files (PS3 Game torrent) onto the PS3?

2.) Extra information: I have a PS3 Slim 160 GB, I have 74.3 GB’s left and my Software Update is Version 4.00. The PS3 Game torrent game was downloaded as a full torrent. I downloaded the PS3 Game torrent from the PS3 onto my flash drive, and then tried burning it onto the discs.

If you know ANYTHING about putting a game (PIRATED or NOT) onto the PS3 then, please leave full details on how to do it.

(If you are going to tell me it’s impossible then think again, because I know it works. For a fact. I’ve seen it done right in front of my eyes.)

PCFlightSimulator answers:

The game arkham asylum is over 7 gigabytes , 303kb is not a game , it’s some sort of link to a download or a file that has a virus 7

you cannot add copied games to a ps3 with fw 4.0 . Ot would have to be fw 3.55 or less and never updated past that version then jail broken ( illegal theft and costs jobs , think about it )

the ps3 can also NOT read copied games from any disc , it uses a digital download on a jailbroken system or a copy from the original blu-ray disc ( ALL PS3 GAMES ARE BLU-RAY , it does not read any ps3 game from a cd or dvd disc )

the facts are that it has to be on a blu-ray disc for any ps3 to read a ps3 game and you don’t have a game file , plus your ps3 is not able to play any pirated games with the new fw , if you did try playing a copied game with fw 4.0 the pa3 will just brick itself and send the info to sony to ban the ps3 and your psn account

OS question for emulators and arcade….?

I am looking to start a pretty big project this year. I want to build an arcade machine that lets you play an emulator/rom. I want to have a computer inside of the arcade unit but I have a question on operating system. I wont be using the best computer for it. Just a cheap one i have laying around with windows 98. Would this be good enough to load MAME? Also back to my original question what would be the best operating system. 98? linux? Thank you

PCFlightSimulator answers:

Not linux the emulator probably isn’t supported by it. Go windows 2000 or xp, give it a large amount of ram too so the emulator runs with no chance of lag

Linda asks…

Porting C++ code to Visual Studio?

I have a C++ project written for the Linux platform – the project is quite big and has a lot of .h and .cpp files.
I need to port this such that it can run on a Windows Mobile 6.1 device. So I have installed Visual Studio 2008 (free trial version) , SDKs, and emulator images.

Now I’m a bit confused as to what to do next. In VS should I go to File -> New -> Project from Existing code. ? After that what should I do?

Let’s say I have a .h file (written to linux platform). Basically how should I start the porting process?

PCFlightSimulator answers:

You could try project from existing code but it may want a make file or something similar. Actually I think that is add existing project.

It may be better to select a new project of the correct type and name it accordingly.

Then, copy all of your existing source files into the directory made.

You can then add these files to the project by using Project | Add | Existing item. If you drag and drop the files on the project in the solution explorer window that will do the same thing.

You’ll have to modify the main (or equivalent) that VS gives you to contain your code.

Hope that helps.

George asks…

why doesn’t my program work?

I try to execute the C virus programs ( jus for studyin purpse, not to harm any1) i read in a book! NOt just 1 C program! I’ve tried lots of C programs. But the C program wont give the result they promise!

I tried a program which would repeat the key pressed thrice on the screen, not jus in an emulator, but also any app would work it, cuz they put it in the resident part of the memory! When i execute this, it compiles successfully, but when i run it… it says abnormal program termination!

For your info….
I use windows 7 64-bit OS. But i tried the programs on 32-bit xp and also in linux gcc compiler.
None of them seemed to help! Help me find a way to interact with my OS. ANd the book i read, its prescribed for dos! Thanks for trying! :)

Lisa asks…

Cheap Gaming Laptops?

It’s time to buy a new laptop. I want a gaming laptop because I have been unable to run a few games that I really wanted to play only due to my video card; Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family. This is just a general graph card and can’t really handle games. A desktop isn’t really an option for me at this point in time.

I’m not too hardware savvy so here is roughly what I’m looking for:

Critical Stuff:
-Must be cheaper than $1300 USD (not expecting top of the line, but at least being able to run games smoothly on medium settings would be nice, willing to spend a bit more but hopefully less)
-Must have decent/fairly recent gaming graph card/Video card (Nvidia GeForce, ATI, whatever)
-Must be able to run games/emulators smoothly(My job requires me to be on the road a lot, so I’d like to be able to run my ps2 games on my laptop, again this is where my current GPU lets me down)

A few pc games I’d like to be able to run nicely are:

-Starcraft II
-Mafia II
-Portal II
-L.A. Noire
-Batman Arkham Asylum
-Ninja Blade
-GTA IV

Other stuff:
Memory: Should be greater than 3GB ram, DDR3 or whatever else is good would be nice.

Processor/CPU: I hear AMD is better for gaming than Intel , i3, i5, i7 and core whatever, but really have no experience with AMD, please tell me what you think. Right now I have Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 @ 2.1GHZ, so something better than that would be cool.

HDD: Don’t care about the brand or size, right now my laptop’s HDD size is only 300 GB, I think everything is bigger than that now.

OS: Windows 7 please. I don’t like Macbooks and have no interest in Linux at this time.

Screen size: Preferably 15″ if not then 17″. No 13″ notebooks please as the keys are too small for my hands.

I think that’s about it, apart from all the standard stuff like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, BluRay, Integrated Webcam, which are really just extras. I’m not picky about any brands, but I would prefer it if the mouse was in the middle rather than the left.

Thanks in advance for your time and help! :)

Intel is better than AMD for gaming: AMD is better value.
Blu tooth and Blu Ray are NOT included on most laptops.

This will run all those games on high, AT LEAST, most likely maxed out.
This is also the best gaming laptop deal out there, and the strongest sub 1300$ laptop.
