Currently there is almost no computer that can run fsx on full quality. Get a 8800 gtx and 2gb or ram and that will be a very good desktop. Get vista if u plan on getting a dx10 supported card. (which is what the 8500 is) only vista supports dx10. And get a heatsink that goes with an intel processor.

Helen asks…

Will my PC run Flight Simulator X?

I was thinking about getting Flight Simulator X and its the first flight sim I’ve ever played, but before I buy it does anyone know how well it will run on my PC, also I have a 360, so would it be better to play it through the PC keyboard or would it be better to get the adapter for the 360 controller to use that instead. My PC specs:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad @2.66Ghz
RAM: 2GB
OS: Vista Ultimate
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 320mb

PCFlightSimulator answers:

That should be fine.

PCFlightSimulator answers:

Install SP1 and SP2 once you do decide to buy the game, several tweaks have been made to resolve many of the earlier performance issues with the game.
Particular improvements that have been made to the game include the games ability to work alongside duo core processors.

I have a p4 processor running @ 3 ghz on my HP pavilion zd8000 laptop, I was surpised that I was able to play this game with my sliders set at medium high including traffic without affecting the framerate.

If you can get access to the net on a fast connection you can fly onine with other players, either as fun or through training and flying alongside serious simers

The only issue I have which affects the framerate is the reflective ocean effect, so I have set these down to minimum since the majority of my flights are on land.
Duo processors advertise a speed of 2ghz but actually perform faster and run @ 4ghz.
